Getting to Myanmar
ENTRY PROCEDURE (AIRPORT)
-
To show your passport, entry-visa
, disembarkation card and other relevant documents
to the officers at the immigration counter
(foreigners' section)
-
To pick up your luggage taken in
by the conveyor belt.
-
To declare, if any, electrical
goods / camera/ jewellery and foreign currencies at
the customs counter.
-
To settle customs duties, if
required, through the red channel.
-
To let customs preventive
officers inspect your luggage.
DEPARTURE PROCEDURE (AIRPORT)
-
To get your ticket confirmed at
the airlines concerned.
-
To pay the airport tax ( 10 US$
in cash ) at the airlines counter.
-
To show your passport and air
ticket at the counter of the airlines concerned so
as to receive your boarding pass.
-
To let the immigration officer
examine your passport and embarkation card.
-
To submit your passport and
declaration from at the customs counter.
-
To let the customs preventive
officers inspect your luggage
-
To go through a body-search.
SOME USEFUL HINTS
-
Reconfirm your international air
tickets before going-up country.
-
Visitors are requested to ignore
tours who may approach you for offering guide
services, for exchanging foreign currency into local
currency, or for selling gems of a doubtful nature.
The offers may appear attractive but could get you
into trouble and spoil your visit.

As there are strict Foreign
Exchange Control Regulations. Tourists are advised
to change their foreign currencies at the Banks ,
Airports and Hotels.

Tourists are also advised to buy
gems, jewellery and silverware at the Gems shops
where you will be given a voucher with a permit for
export.

Always keep your Passport and
money in secure places especially when travelling by
train or by bus. Report all losses to the nearest
Police Station as well as to your Embassy.

Tourist are required to dress
decently within the precincts of religious places.
Foot-wear is strictly prohibited in pagodas &
monasteries.

For the time being the issue of
visas by consulates will be as follow.

Tourist visas: issued to F.I.T
tourists as well as to groups of tourists whose
itineraries are arranged thought Myanmar Travels &
Tours.

Business visas: issued at Myanmar
embassies and consulates general abroad.

Visa issued by representatives of
Myanmar in: Australia (Canberra), Bangladesh
(Dhaka), Canada (Ottawa), People's Republic of China
(Beiging, Kunmin), C.I.S / Former U.S.S.R (Moscow),
